Mother’s Day 2012

I know I’ve already posted this picture…but I feel like it’s the most appropriate representation of what this day is all about.

I am so very thankful for the examples that I have in my life of how to be a good wife and mother.

My grandmother (far left) has been married to my grandfather for over 50 years. In that time they counted moving 26 times…that they remember….whether it was up the street or back and forth to Saudi Arabia. They raised 2 kids. And made it.

My great-grandmother (next over) is the oldest of 7- she’s seen so much from the Great Depression to WWII and beyond. This woman is tough. And I’m proud to know her so well.

My mom (far right) has been a relentless support. She chose to stay home and raise kids- even when she had her degree in something that she loved. She also supports my decision to be a doctor and raise kids. She knows we are different people and that we have different callings…and THAT takes courage.

This is my second Mother’s Day (barely). One year ago today we dedicated our 6-day-old baby girl to the Lord…and committed to do our best to “raise her right”. I know I’m not perfect, and I never will be. But she was given to us to be ours for a reason…and I will do my best to provide her with the same examples that I have been so blessed to learn from.

Here’s to you Mom, Mimi, and Mama. Love you all so much and am proud to carry on the legacy.
