Baby Steps, Bob!

When change happens TO me- it seems to happen suddenly.

Last January there was one business week that went something like this.
1. Michael’s interview at The Church.
2. We found out that we were having an “Abigail”.
3. I had my medical school interview.
4. We closed on our first house.

Talk about change.

But it seems like when I want to make a change in my own life–whether it’s changing my health or changing my heart–it just takes so dad-gum long. The first few days are good. And then it just kind of tapers off. Either I’m not seeing the results I wanted or I let it slip “just this once”…

I’ve learned that, at least for me, I can’t just overhaul a life-long mindset in just one night.
I kind of have to take it one step at a time. Kind of like Bob, here.

My hope is that as you read this blog, you find little things that resonate with you.

Just one statement here and there.
One idea.
That you decide to apply for the rest of your life.

If you want to change your heart or your attitude about something, you usually make an effort to change it permanently. We don’t call it a “diet for our mind” or anything. We try to take things away from sermons, motivational speeches, our time in the Bible–and apply them on a regular basis in hopes that it just becomes a part of who we are.

That’s truly how you change–and that applies to your health. (Get your butt kicked here.)

So, if you’re in the process of trying to make some changes, don’t be disheartened.
And don’t be overwhelmed.
Baby Steps, Bob. Baby Steps.

  1. Such a good thought Stephanie. I needed to hear that! Thanks for sharing. One step at a time. 🙂

    • Most definitely! Haha and especially in the medical field, it’s just going to be one foot in front of the other for a while 😉
