Country Livin’

There are some things that living in smaller towns provides that living in cities simply can’t.

Tractor rides….

The unashamedness of wearing hats…

Feeding animals…

Homemade Ice Cream…

And the kindness of strangers…

In the convenience store in the nearest town…
Who sold us the vanilla from what they had in their kitchen….
For 27 cents…
Because we forgot this important ice cream ingredient…

I’m sure it wasn’t hard to go in the back and get it, but it wasn’t on their shelves.
It was a slight inconvenience…but, unfortunately, one that I wouldn’t expect from someone in a larger city…

I guess those Words to Describe Myself aren’t always made up of the big things…

It’s the little things that count.

  1. LOVE this! I was thinking about “country living” the other day and while I love my “city” comforts- like Target, ordering-in food, and being 5 minutes from anywhere- I will always love quiet, deer, and being able to chase a cow away from my mom’s porch… and then be chased back.

    • mmmm Target. Haha yea. But there’s something about going back that is just- lovely. It’s so quiet…and there are so many stars…

  2. I was born and raised on a farm in Mexico, I remember those stars. I’ve been living in the city now for 15 years, you brought back a lot of memories for me. Love your photos by the way!

    • Thanks! Do you ever get back to the farm- or the country?! It’s such a refreshing thing for me. Haha and I think the little one like the barefoot freedom!

      • Only in books and my imagination do I get back to the country. I miss it a lot, even that manure smell that city people can’t stand. Haha, I used to get in trouble for going barefoot when I came to Canada, I was so used to it back in Mexico.

        • Ah yes. 🙂 Good times. I think that’s why I want to go back even more now with a little one–I want her to appreciate those things, too!
